It was exciting, this past weekend, to see all of Brian's work come to fruition. The first was a musical that he wrote the music for and played for. I know it was a huge relief for Brian to see it all come together. Our friend, Scott, wrote the musical and it was equally great to see him lead his students in the music. Scott is great with music and children. You put the two together and he is right where God has called him.
Thankfully, also, the outdoor wedding (the one Brian had only a few weeks back met with the couple to discuss music and they didn't care what music - just not traditional...) went well. When the couple started to walk down the aisle as husband and wife, Brian started with the traditional fanfare and then quickly changed to "Isn't She Lovely". The couple was thrilled with their non-traditional songs -yeah! The coolest (no pun intended) thing was that they had put their wedding programs on a stick that made them into fans. Such an awesome idea for an outside wedding.
A few posts back I showed pictures of a single wall where I had taken the wall paper off. Well....that 'little act' took us to a level of "house remodeling" that we didn't anticipate. Our dining room, living room, stairway, and kitchen are all connected. So there was no way around it but to paint the entire area. I knew I didn't want to be painting all summer, so we attacked this project with gusto and are thrilled to be done with our part. We do have one wall where it is vaulted over steps and we'll be having a guy come, Thursday, with the proper equipment to do that wall.
This picture below shows our living room. This is another reason why it just NEEDED to get done. Having curtains draped over the couch and a piano in the middle of the room does not lead to a peaceful home. Reece did think having the fridge in the middle of the kitchen was cool, but he learned quickly that it would not be staying there...
My sister has this color in her house. It's called peanut butter and the kids LOVE saying they should just eat the walls for lunch. I had gotten the paint on my hand and ALMOST licked it so I need to stop calling it peanut butter for my own sanity.
Monday morning we finished painting the last bit of the kitchen and it was time to party. Some friends of ours, John (below left) and Judy had invited us over for a Memorial Day Pool party. We jumped at the chance to leave our painting behind.
Pool party it was and the kids had such a great time swimming all afternoon and evening.
While us women were gabbing inside the house, we noticed the men had disappeared. They had taken over the cul de sac with some frisbee throwing.
Reece was the only kid who couldn't wait to join the men and throw some frisbee. Here is Mike below trying to keep Reece from grabbing the frisbee.
It was great seeing Shelley as she was in town for a few days.
Here's Sofia showing the kids her Mom's new Ipad.
This is John and Judy's son, Miles. Don't know what Brian is doing, but Miles was very fascinated with him.
It was such a sweet time spending the day talking with Judy and Martha and all the other ladies.

Nicole had told me about the program on a stick made into a fan already! Do you know where the other bride got them? or how they put them together? Would love to know! They'll be printing their own programs, but would love to utilize this idea.
