Soccer finished up 2 weekends ago and the kids had a good season. Reece seriously smiles the whole time while out on the field and he still thinks it's cool to wave to his Mama. I love that of course! He'll go after the ball like crazy, but he doesn't have a "game face" on at all. It's all for fun for this kid...
Especially when you get donuts and Bojangle biscuits during the trophy party. It was fitting after their last game was at 8a.m.
Lindsey had a good season. She'll go after the ball although she does prefer to play defense and goalie. It's great exercise, but for her it is about the team and being together with her friends. (such a little female).
A highlight is the trophy party (her coach took them all to Chick Fil A for milk shakes) where her coach talks about each one of them and she eats that up. We always wonder when she might say that she doesn't want to do soccer anymore, but after getting a trophy and much love, from her coach, she always wants to sign up for the next season.
I'd have to say it does get tougher, on the parents, as they get older. Lindsey's games are now more in the afternoon and Reece has early games. Also, Lindsey had a few weekends where they would have 2 games on one day so we would actually be at the soccer field 3 times. We had a weekend where we had an 8a.m, 12p.m. and 2p.m. games. Ugh! I might have been a little "too obvious" of my excitement over the season finale when her team lost, but I was cheering: "Yay...we're done!" Brian encouraged me to curb my enthusiasm, but it just felt like it was a long soccer season. Yet I am very thankful for this amazing organization and can't speak highly enough about this great opportunity for the kids.
