A end of the year family party for Girl Scouts

Even though it was cold and rainy here today, the kids and I were able to enjoy a swimming party at a local aquatic center. The Girl Scout Brownies decided to spend their "due" money on a swimming party with our families. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. We are still trying to decide, as a brownie troop, whether or not we'd like to go to Build a Bear or Bullwinkles with the "cookie money" the girls have earned. Brian has asked, "Isn't Girl Scouts over for the summer?" Well, technically it is but we sure like to keep the parties coming!

E-gads! The title should say: "An end" instead of "A end". this is what happens when you are trying to talk to 3 kids and type at the same time. :)

We always used our cookie money and dues on camping trips! Do they go camping at all in the homeschool girlscout troop?

Heather - We had planned a "practice camp-out" for our backyard this month (before the actual girl scout camps held their summer camps). I think we just got too busy and forgot about it. Many girls are going to camp this summer. It's probably best we didn't have the camp-out in our backyard with black bears roaming the neighborhoods of Wake County. :)

P.S. And you really have black bears roaming around where you live???

Hey Allison,

The mother bear and her cub, roaming around a neighborhood last week, was the first that I had heard of that in Raleigh. They weren't going to capture them. They were just hoping the bears would find the woods. Oh my.....

Brian's Aunt Karen would probably laugh at our postings about bears in the city of Raleigh. She lives up in the mountains of North Carolina and she actually has to "shoo" bears out of her garage if she leaves it open.
I'm sure these "Raleigh bears" made national news since it really ISN'T 'common' here at all. :)
