July 4th actually started the night before when the kids dipped pretzels and sprinkled them in patriotic colors. We wrapped them in plastic wrap and tied them with ribbon to later hand out at the nursing home to thank them for caring for Grandpa.
We love coming out this time of year because small towns REALLY know how to put on a parade. For the kids it's all about the candy. There was a little drizzle that morning, but not enough to keep people home.
Only in Iowa do you see them giving away toilet paper all wrapped up in a baggie. They were giving away so many things that day.
Here the kids are waving at everyone in the hopes of candy. They made out pretty good.
After the parade we headed over to the nursing home to give out the treat bags to all the workers.

one of our favorite 4th of July's was when Harrison was only 3 1/2 months old. we were in a small town in MI and had never been to a small town parade. one of my favorite memories of that time in our life. i know you all had a blast! :)
