Electricity

This is what I found when Lindsey and I had come home from her soccer game last Saturday. Reece and Daddy were making electricity with lemon juice, paper towels, nickels and pennies. I think what most thrilled Brian (my "save everything" husband) was when he got out this 'volt reader' that he had built when he was a kid.

This brought back nightmares to me... my first D was in science in 8th grade because it was physical science with one of the most boring teachers I ever had. (When he looked at you, one of his eyes went one direction & the other one went the other direction, so you never really knew which way he was looking, & as a 13 year old, it just plain scared me.) He did some really neat experiments with us, this being one of them, but he couldn't quite teach the principles of them in a way I could understand or remember. I took 3 years of chemistry in high school & 2 of biology, & did quite well. But I never attempted any type of physical science. How great that your kids can learn these things from the best teacher of all - their dad!

My J would LOVE doing that experiment. For Christmas, I'm getting him one of those sets to make electrical circuits. It's my lame attempt at influencing a career choice as a well-paying electrical engineer.
